2025 NA Tour

Seattle-June 11th, 2025

Seattle-June 11th, 2025

Wow, I had just the most AWESOME day and night! In a nutshell (before I talk of the gig LOL) I got to meet up with aΒ  Build a Bear friend of mine who lives about 30miles south of Seattle and go for a lovely hike around Discovery Park. The weather got much cooler so it was perfect! The tide was low so we could walk out where there’d normally be water, saw lots of crab and shells and on the trail there were a lot of various flowers and some cool trees. After we had late lunch/early dinner at Taco Time which apparently is a regional food chain. Finished by seeing the new Overlook Walkway downtown by Pike Place Market. 17,000+ steps and almost 800 calories burned once we were saying goodbye LOL. Next up was a lovely sit down visit and catch up (YEARS in the making) with Paula, Steph and Pat (and his cousin too who was a newbie to OMD LOL). SO much fun and an already happy heart before I even set foot into the venue but more was to come! πŸ˜€πŸ˜‰

I had mentioned in the previous blog that Kim had second row for tonight that she was going to share with me. Well, as it turned out, it was FRONT ROW!😯 Whoop Whoop!πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ‘ The guards put the rope up shortly before the guys came out so I hoped that would keep from people rushing the stage and luckily tonight everyone stayed level with the first row. No one was next to Kim either so we could spread out a bit and once the guys came out I found I had a lot of room to dance. More than usual which was GREAT!πŸ˜€

As also mentioned, last night’s Seattle gig was great with even the balcony up and going. Funny enough, tho to MY ears it took a few songs for this crowd to pick up the steam, the band seemed to hear it right away because after Antropocene, Mr. M. smiled and said “last night was the dress rehearsal, TONIGHT is the real gig”.Β  Messages got more people bopping around and then TG…well, I’ve been staying away from putting the “political” stuff Mr. M. has been saying because I don’t want to get into any of that. But it ticked someone off the first night so they used TGs “No” as an answer to Mr. M. saying “Am I going to mention Elon Musk” and “Am I going to get political”. It was funny to hear. πŸ™‚Β  I decided to do my “yes, Yes, YES” bit…I think having extra room got me feeling FREEEEE LOL.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ‘

There were more people bouncing around for HoM, one guy in particular caught my eye and I ended up watching him a lot during the night. He was second row…or maybe first, not sure but he was moving and bouncing as much as me. Oh my, is that what I look like?πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚Β  Well, I had fun watching him so if it IS what I look like, hopefully someone laughs in a good way at me. If not, OH WELL.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰ Next was Mr. H. and FLaD…Oh my this crowd LOOOVED him! Not only did he get cheers when he was coming down to sing but I heard a lot of yells out to him too and in between verses, the crowd cheered loudly over the music. It was awesome!πŸ˜€ He was thrilled too, waving to everyoneΒ  and smiling as he said “wow, thank YOU!”

Mr. M. announced ” a quick fact…you were the first show to have sold out when the tour went on sale so…we’re expecting you to be great. No pressure or anything…just saying.” πŸ˜‚ Well the band wasn’t disappointed..IYL went down amazingly!Β  Crowd singing, dancing and the cheers after were thundering! (During the song, a woman came up and handed Mr. M. something. He smiled, thanked her as he took it, looked at it, chuckled and put it down on the speaker in front of him. I saw it was one of the little rubber ducks that Jeep owners have on their dashboards and at first I thought “um…OK…” but then it hit me…DUCKIE!πŸ˜―πŸ˜€πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ πŸ˜€)Β  And it continued this way for the A&M trio too. When all 3 songs were done, it just went on and on. The balcony fans were on their feet all over!πŸ˜―πŸ˜€πŸ‘Β  The guys were just floored, massive smiles on everyone’s faces, Mr. C. grinning up at the TWO standing balconies, Stuart giving out the hand heart and both Mr. M. and Mr. H. thanking everyone.Β  The quiet mellow time of Veruschka was needed after all that LOL.

Don’t Go got everyone up and moving again and I was truly enjoying my full sized area to go mental LOL. After Pandora’s Box Mr. M. said “we don’t play that song that often but you all seemed to know it so…” and lots of cheers back.Β  Mr. Mr. then said to everyone it was only going to get faster and, looking up at the balcony said “I can see you all in the back balcony dancing….COME ON….” and yup, BOTH balconies were living it up! I couldn’t help but think “well if I had had a balcony seat TONIGHT, I’d have had NO problem standing up and dancing LOL.πŸ˜‚ This all continued song after song…I mean the crowd was just beyond amazing and all 4 guys just kept looking up and out at the crowd, grinning from ear to ear, and Mr. H. echoing Mr. M.s sentiment that the night was special.

There was a guy and girl in the front row who had both gotten hand shakes from Mr. M. Then before Locomotion, Mr. M. looked at the man and said “thank you for wearing your Bauhaus Staircase t-shirt but we’re not playing it tonight” before proceeding to quickly sing “I want to kiss on a Bauhaus Staircase” for him LOL.πŸ™‚ I decided to re-record SotSS since I was right in front of Mr. C. and hoped to get the Mr. C./Mr. M. fist pump this time…got it LOL.πŸ˜€ When it was over, Mr. C. got a lot ofΒ  cheers but then Mr. M., holding his thermus to take a drink said ‘keep the cheers coming, I need a real drink” and Mr. C. laughed and motioned quickly with his hands to continue as he grinned LOL. Adorable.πŸ˜€β€οΈ

This of course meant that it was down to EG. Mr. M. looked up at the upper balcony and said ‘if any of you are afraid to dance to this next one, just remember…you have a safety net if you fall…it’s called the first balcony”.πŸ˜‚ I don’t think anyone was too worried because everyone was up and moving! When it was done, Mr. H. said “oh thank you SO much! You’ve been SO fun to play for! This has been amazing!” All 4 guys stood a bit longer than usual to just get the most out of the crowds sonic cheering before saying their goodbyes.

While waiting for the guys return, the OMD chant started but then it sounded like either ANOTHER one started, or there was a delay from the second balcony because it sounded like “O..M..D….O, O..M..D….O”πŸ˜‚ When everyone was back on stage, Mr. M. said “oh yeah, TONIGHT was the gig!” Lots of arms swaying for LaYN and then for Secret Mr. M. looked at Mr. H. and said “I don’t know why I introduce this song every night when you wrote it. YOU introduce it.” Mr. H. seemed a bit surprised, smiled and said “Ok…Um….” paused so Mr. M. laughed and said “oh F*ck it, it’s called Secret” and off they went.πŸ˜‚ More big cheers for Mr. H. and then when Mr. M. asked if we were ready for their oldest and fastest song, the crowd cheered so loud that he then asked “do you know what it is” and the crowd yelled “ELECTRICITY” making Mr. M. then saying it unnecessary really.πŸ˜‚Β  Final chance to bounce and dance around which I took to heart since I knew this was a rare experience to have all my room. When it was over, the guys came down to the front one final time all beams of smiles and joy waving and thanking us again. “We will DEFINETLY be back!” and then off they went.

I had forgotten to get a picture at the bar prior to the show with Pat and the girls so we said we’d do it post gig. Big hugs and goodbyes as the girls go back to the UK on Friday but then I headed outside to see aΒ  Glasvegas friend who had managed to get someΒ  balcony seats. Kirby and I met last year when we both flew over to Airdrie Scotland to see Glasvegas, ended up next to each other on the front rail and started talking LOL. It’s truly a small world and I was so glad she reached out to me so we could say hi…and bye LOL. Walking to the car, I was like the guys…smiling from ear to ear at the wonderful show but DAY in general! This and my capybara experience are my 2 favorite days of my OMD tour adventure thus far.

So…highlight of the night has to be front row with LOTS of room to do whatever the HECK I wanted in terms of dancing! Oh, and watching my ‘counter part’ do the same on the other side of the venue.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ˜‰ Good thing we have a free day/night because I don’t think any show we could have seen tonight would stand a chance since we’d be comparing it heavily with this one LOL.
