Detroit-June 29th, 2025

Well it was a bit of a late night early morning for Laura and I but that’s part of touring LOL.😂😉 It was still nice that I could sleep in my own bed with my cats for a second night! We were up and out the door within a few minutes of what we aimed for. Quick gas and coffee for Laura stop and then on to pick up Nicky and head to Detroit.  Since it was Sunday, there was no massive traffic backup going around Chicago (I live out of the city in the NW suburbs and we were having to head south) which was great and allowed us to actually stop quickly at the hotel for a fast check in/bathroom break/make up moment before going on to the venue.

They were playing Royal Oak Theatre which was where they were in 2022 and at that show the line got really long. Nicky and I had bought Quick Pass tickets so we wouldn’t have to deal with worrying and told Laura we’d hold her a spot but when we arrived 2 hours ahead, there was only Kim and 2 others in line!😯 No stress LOL and it gave us time to all go get things to eat and snack on (Laura got ice cream at this way cool place that is Nitrogen ice cream…I watched as they made it LOL). We also got to chatting with Kim’s friends Kristina and Ron (ironicallly, Nicky had bought his ticket from a friend of mine who had to back out about a month ago. He ended up sending me a message while we were driving in saying I may see a couple who he had stood next to the night before at the Devo show….ended up that was Kristina and Ron…small world.😂)

We ended up on Mr. C.s side today. I had Kim next to me on my right and then Kristina and Ron on her right. Nicky on my left with Laura after that so yay!😀👍 But then the ‘molesting’ started, OMG! So some woman comes in about 15 minutes prior to WD and is either high as a kite or drunk off her butt because she’s all over, leaning against Kim and grabbing her butt, leaning against me, swaying etc. Initially one of the guys she was with was trying to convince us to let her into the front row “oh come on, she’s only 5′ 2″, there’s room, you don’t need it all.” Um…YES, we DO and Kim and I are only 5′ 2-3″ so we’re short too. If you want the rail, GET THERE EARLY!😠 So when she was all over the place, I thought she was trying to squish in but she was just OUT of it! It was annoying and when WD was done, Ron called security over, told them and they said they’d keep an eye on her.  By the time OMD were coming out, one of the guys had kind of made a buffer between her and us which was good BUT, some OTHER drunk or high blonde came up and she was worse as she was bigger…in all sorts of ways if you know what I mean. I swear I’m still having nasty flashbacks to her  boops up against my back a gazzillion times! Not to mention I had MY boob grabbed by her, my waist grabbed another time, head bonked by her elbow etc. It was OBNOXIOUS! Thank GOD the guys were great but OMG!😡😡

So…moving on from that crummy part of the show/night…it was also SUPER hot again! The guys came out and the crowd got going tho not as loud as some but hey, it was sweltering so… Messages got a lot of cheers and more fun with TG.😀👍 Then during Kleptocracy, Mr. H. made a goof on the keyboards and had this look like “oh my!” When it was done, Mr. M. laughed and said “I love it when you make a mistake because it makes my bass playing look so much better.” Mr. H. laughed and said “there’s water on the keyboards, I need to wipe it off” and he took his towel and started wiping.😯  Mr. M. then said that it was time to bounce and off we went to HoM. When it was over, he gave thumbs up and said we looked good despite it being so hot.

This meant it was time for Mr. H. to come down so Mr. M. introduced him again as the star about to come down and wow us. Mr. H. laughed and said “you always make me sound much better” so Mr. M. laughed and said “OK, useless Mr. Humphreys will come down and do nothing” and Mr. H. laughed and said “that’s better.” 😂❤️ Everyone loved having Mr. H. down in front and the cheers kept going. Once done, Mr. M. said that he had forgotten to say TG was from a John Hughes movie…”but we have another one”….not the usual cheer so he laughed and said “they haven’t figured it out yet…but they WILL” and Mr. H. said “Stuart…” and pointed for him to hit the drum roll. Well, once he did, THEN the usual cheer came LOL. When it was over, Mr. M. thanked us for “still going despite this heat.”

The A&M trio went down well and I realized it was a good time to try and get a picture of Stuart because when MoO is over, they pop on full lights so I could get him all spread out LOL. Lots of cheers for all 3 songs and then it was the cool down moment with Veruschka. Mr. M. joked once over that “I think we ALL needed that slow song to rest up with this heat…but now it’s over. You all ready again?” Yup, we were as the sing along to DG was very impressive!😀👍  Pandora’s Box found Mr. M. throwing a kiss to the screen with Louise Brooks before he started singing and when it was over he asked “are you tired yet?” Despite the heat, everyone yelled NO!😀

SiL had more  bouncing and singing but when done, Mr. M. looked down  by us and then said “is there security? We have water down here” and pointed because yes, in fact there were 2 24 pack water packages and surprisingly there was no security in the front the whole time. They continued with Dreaming and I forgot to mention but the way the lights were tonight, it formed cool shadows of Mr. M. (only him tho, I tried watching the others particularly Mr. C. with his sax solos but…nope😞) Finally during Locomotion the guards came by and grabbed one of the water packages to spread around with Laura getting about half of them to hand out to people…but they still left the second package…very strange!🙄

SotSS had people singing again and Kim had her hand held power fan that she had been sharing with me so when Mr. M. would come down towards us to sing, she’d hold it up to him. I think the first time he wasn’t sure but the second time he felt the fan, stood there a few seconds to enjoy it, then smiled and thanked her as he turned and kept singing/dancing.😂😀👍 Trust me, it was needed! When it was time for EG, we grabbed energy and bounced away before it was done and the guys were coming out to stay thank you. Mr. M. and Mr. H. did funny intros again…”slippery keys Humphreys” and “sticky strings McCluskey”.😂 I hope this becomes the norm as I’m enjoying hearing what nicknames they come up with.😂😉🤗

No chanting but when the guys came back, the cheering was still good and Mr. M. said “thank you! I slept all day because I woke up feeling like crap but you kept the energy up which helped so thank you”. Aww, bless.🤗 LaYN was us all swaying and then near the end of Secret, I saw Mr .M. looking a lot over at Laura. Apparently a guy  was having some issues so she let him up against the rail. But then he started looking very poorly. My first thought was the heat was hitting him and he was going to pass out so I grabbed my water from my pocket, handed it to Nicky who handed it to the guy but he didn’t really take it. Merv came over to see what was up and Mr .M. was half talking to the crowd like he would before Electricity and half looking at Merv like “um…should we stop? What’s going on?”  Merv circled his hand like “no, keep going” so that’s what Mr. M. did while those of us around kind of backed up to give security room. Of course the crazy blonde woman who had been all up on me (oh yeah, kept yelling “happy birthday” and “let’s go BITCHES” all night too🙄) got up close like she’d help so I tried to get her back again as it looked like security was going to try lifting him and they needed space. In the end, they brought a wheelchair and got him out about 2/3 of the way thru Electricity. Final little bounce before we got our final thank yous and goodbyes and the guys left (I asked Laura then what happened and she said apparently the guy was having some spasms and couldn’t stand anymore because of hip pain. Well at least it wasn’t a ‘medical emergency’ thank goodness!)

After a post gig picture, Laura, Nicky and I wanted to wait for the guys again since not successful in MN. As mentioned before, it had been years since I was able to give them all hugs…too long!😞😞 I was also hoping to maybe get a pictures, but my main goal truly was just to be able to say hello. Security were nice but it was also a bit strange because twice we had them come out and tell us where to stand, to be respectful, let the guys come to us etc. I thought “do we look like loonies or something?”😯😂 There were 8 of us total…a woman and her daughter, me, Laura, Nicky, Kim, Ron and Kristina and as it turned out, all 4 guys came out tho Mr. C. came out a minute after Mr. H. and I was already talking to Mr. H. so only got to say a very quick hello and hug to him as he was on the bus stairs but hey, that’s all I wanted. But got more chatting and pictures with the other 3 so…yeah, ELATED!!!! 😀😀👍😀😀👍🤗🤗🤗🤗 (When the guys were all on the bus, the security ladies said “I think you were the nicest waiting fans we’ve ever had”. Awww.🤗 I asked her if she’d take a picture of us all together so we gathered in front of the tour bus, she took it and it turned out great! Shared with all😀👍) In fact that is without a doubt my highlight of the night (and over shadows all the molesting thank goodness!🙄🤪)
